About Company

The company operates in the chemical distribution and trading industry, supplying industrial chemicals, solvents, polymers, and chemical intermediates to diverse manufacturing sectors.

Job Description

Position Overview -

We’re looking for a sharp, forward-thinking Head of Treasury to lead and grow our global treasury operations. The chemical trading world moves incredibly fast, and this role is right at the center of the action—keeping our cash flowing smoothly, navigating market ups and downs, and setting up the financial structures that make big international deals happen.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  • Lead, mentor, and track the daily roles and responsibilities of your 5-member treasury team, dynamically allocating work to match business priorities.
  • Maintain team leadership and quality control for communications, and documentation prepared by your team before they go out to clients or banks, maintaining our professional standard.
  • Drive the entire Letter of Credit (LC) and Standby LC (SBLC) lifecycle. You will map out LC priorities with the Director, select the ideal issuing bank based on available limits across our banks, and handle flawless end-to-end applications and amendments.
  • Secure competitive supplier credit quotes from banks/agents. You will handle bank queries for LC issuance, buyer's credit requests, and debit note payments, including managing overseas bank funding, interest SWIFTs, and MT 202 transactions.
  • Represent our company to the consortium member banks. You will maintain strong personal relationships with our bankers, occasionally visiting branch offices to fast-track urgent LC issuances or resolve complex banking matters.
  • Take ownership of verifying and drafting critical shipping documentation, including BL (Bill of Lading) drafts, Sales Contracts signed by Directors, and Letters of Indemnity (LOI).
  • Seamlessly coordinate with the logistics team to provide essential clearance sets (Invoices, LC copies, POs/SOs, non-negotiable documents, original BL/CEPA, and Form-I/Cartor Declarations) to guarantee zero port delays.
  • Consolidate upcoming due dates and payment milestones, feeding data to the risk desk for timely booking of forward contracts.
  • Keep us fully compliant by managing quarterly Unhedged Foreign Currency Exposure (UFCE) data submissions to banks, ensuring CA certification is obtained half-yearly. You will also oversee the timely submission of pending Bills of Entry (BOE).
  • Oversee the continuous, daily update of our Master Treasury Files (including tracking vessel itineraries, new sales/purchase order details, and cash adjustments).
  • Run monthly fund planning forecasts, monitor upcoming payment obligations, and track LC expiries to proactively manage extensions.
  • Ensure payment advices and transaction breakdowns are quickly passed to the accounts for accurate logging into our Spectrum ERP.
  • Any other industry specific treasury related work as required.

Educational Qualifications, experience and skill set

  • Educational degree: Minimum bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a highly quantitative field.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8–10 years of progressive experience in corporate treasury or corporate banking, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role. Exceptional hands-on understanding of LC mechanisms, Buyer's Credit, SBLCs, and SWIFT message types (MT 202, etc.). You are highly organized and comfortable supervising continuous data entry into complex Master/MIS trackers.
  • Industry background: Direct experience within a Commodity Trading, Chemical Trading, or high-volume Import/Export environment is highly preferred.
